Reclaim Your Oral Comfort

If you’ve lost one tooth or more to periodontal disease or any other cause, dental implants created at Bonnie Doon Denture Clinic might be the right choice for you.

A dental implant is a high-quality, artificial metal root that is inserted directly into the jawbone, serving as an anchor to hold the replacement tooth or teeth in place. These help to preserve the strength of your jawbone while providing maximum comfort.

Two Types of Dental Implants for Denture Support

Our Edmonton clinic offers bar-retained dentures and ball-retained dentures. Be advised that both types will need the support of at least two dental implants.

  • Bar-retained dentures: A thin metal bar is used to attach two to five implants along the curve of your jaw, which will hold your dentures in place.
  • Ball-retained dentures: Ball-shaped metal attachments that fit into sockets, securing your dentures in place.

Benefits of Implant-Supported Dentures

There are many benefits associated with dental implants, including:

  • Excellent Function

A dental implant is strong and stable, which gives the feeling that your replacement tooth is just as effective and comfortable as a natural tooth.

  • Protecting the Jawbone

If you have empty holes in your gum line where teeth used to be, there’s a risk of additional health issues, particularly the deterioration of your jawbone. A dental implant will help to preserve and even initiate bone growth.

  • No Worries about Eating

Unlike conventional dentures, you don’t need to feel hesitant about eating certain foods. You can bite and chew naturally while enjoying your favourite foods.

  • Clear Speech

Because your denture will be mechanically attached (though still removable) to the implants, your denture will move around much less. This security allows for greater ease of speech.

Are Dental Implants Right for You?

Committing to implant-supported dentures is a big decision. While you’ll likely enjoy more denture stability with implant-supported dentures than with adhesive alternatives, this isn’t always the best treatment option for everyone.
